Self-Employment in France
Self-employment in France is often the simplest business model for independent contractors, allowing them the flexibility to work with multiple clients over various time frames. Contractors simply invoice their clients at agreed intervals, either based on time spent or upon project completion.
To maintain eligibility, it is essential to ensure there is no employment or subordinate relationship with the client. Should such a relationship be found, defending your self-employed status before the tax authorities can be difficult. In such cases, both you and the client risk being subject to a deemed employment ruling, which could result in employer social security contributions becoming payable.
Portage Salarial in France
Portage salarial is a status in France, that allows a self-employed worker to benefit from the same social security coverage and the same rights as an employee.
Access Financial acts as an umbrella company that employs freelancers under a permanent (CDI) employment contract. This arrangement enables freelancers, referred to as “salarié porté” in French, to enjoy the same social benefits as traditional employees, such as retirement pensions, public healthcare, and unemployment benefits. Additionally, Access Financial handles the collection of the freelancer’s turnover and converts it into a salary, which is then paid out to the freelancer.

At Access Financial we specialise in enabling contractors/freelancers from EU and EFTA Member States to utilise their Limited Company for contracting in France. Alternatively, if you do not already have a Limited Company, we can help you establish one.
